GREAT NEWS Don M, Jim & Deb S, and I met with Mike Parrillo (RI Pitcher & Teacher in Sterling, CT) on Sat 4/28 in Sterling. Mike has a large number of Juniors (from his middle school) who would like to start pitching but they need some courts first. We also met the Sterling Recreation Director and the Town's First Selectman who are whole heartedly in favor of building courts at that Community Center which we toured. Right now, it is a vacant fairly level field behind the Community Center. We gave them some ideas to help fundraising and seeking donations and they are very anxious to keep this moving forward. Mike has already received a grant from NHPA and the Recreation Director has set up an account. Please think about ways that either the State Association and your Local Clubs could help them make it a reality. I know that Dan Molineaux and the small group from RI (where Mike P) plays have offered some assistance, but being as this is in CT we need to support them as much as we can. I'll appreciate any thoughts you have on how we can help! Paul J |
